As a student of Ólafur Elíasson, the French-speaking Suisse Julian Charrière has a perfect understanding of the phenomenon of perception. He is currently working to create self-managed structures readjusting our perspective and expectations.
His installation entitled “Undefined Horizons” provides an overview of a microenvironment of a particular kind: a growing view and living cultures of fungi and bacteria collected in the active Opernwerkstätten comes to life in a 360 degrees diorama. A plastic hemisphere inside the cylinder allows the viewer to delve into this bacterial universe.
