Alice through the key hole


The intermedia performative work of this British artist and choreographer Martin Butler questions the sense of the self and exploits for this purpose disciplines as diverse as dance, theater, music, film, fashion and technology.

With reference to the famous work of Lewis Carroll „Alice in Wonderland“ and the scene „eat me, drink me,“ Butler rushes visitors of his installation in a Wonderland of its own, that provides an illusion of the senses and mixes the gazers’ perception upside-down. They act simultaneously as naive and ignorant players who perceive the outside world from the children’s voyeuristic perspective.
